Success Stories for 34 Years
The Gateway School is a licensed private academic school for students of average or above average intelligence who have learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, or those who are underachievers. The Gateway School has been building success stories - real success stories since it first opened its doors in 1977.

Our teachers are trained, supportive instructors who care about your child's educational as well as social and emotional growth.
Our student-to-teacher ratio is low, so each child gets the attention he or she needs and deserves.

Gateway students are successful. Some continue their education and earn a two- or four-year college degree. Others find employment and enjoy the benefits and satisfaction of being a member of today's workforce.

A Caring, Talented Faculty
The key to the Gateway School's success is the knowledge, experience, and compassion of its faculty. Led by the school's Administrator, the faculty includes certified teachers and art instructors along with access to speech and reading specialists.

Teachers hold a master's degree or certification in special education granted by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. We attribute much of our student's success to a strong, caring faculty who give individualized instruction as well as support and guidance to each student.

Bi-Level Program

So that we can accommodate your child's individual needs, the Gateway School is divided into two levels. The program of the middle school develops fundamental skills in reading, language arts, and mathematics while providing instruction in all other areas needed for a sound education.

The upper school program includes all traditional academic subjects including English, mathematics, science, and social studies.
Health, physical education, and adaptive physical education are taught at all levels. Developmental reading and writing are central to the curriculum in every classroom at Gateway. The curriculum emphasizes a structured academic program, individualized instruction, and a behavior modification program.

Fun, Friends, Facts
Peer relationships are strengthened and enhanced through frequent social events planned by coordinated efforts of the Student Government Association and the Parent Teachers Organization. There are holiday dances and parties (Halloween, Christmas, and Valentines) and topic related field trips. Some examples are: Wallops Island, VA, trip to study marine life sponsored by the Science department, an annual May picnic, and a field event day organized by the Physical Education department.
